Benjamin Scherr, or "Dr. Ben" as his patients call him, is known for his caring touch and humorous tone, making even the most nervous patients comfortable. Dr. Ben helps his patients in all areas of dentistry, from prevention and emergencies to crowns, dentures, root canals, and more complex forms of restorative care. He is constantly learning and is up on all of the most modern techniques and technologies, and has no shame admitting to listening to dental podcasts while working out at the gym in the morning!
Dr. Ben met Dr. Schwartz, his family and staff while they served together on a mission trip treating underprivileged children at a dental clinic in El Salvador. It is that spirit of community and caring that carries through everything he does. Dr. Ben understands how truly important oral health is and how much it influences his patient's overall health and well-being, with a goal of helping others keep their teeth and gums healthy throughout their lifetimes.
Dr. Ben holds a B.S. in Evolutionary Anthropology from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, a Masters degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Tulane University and a DDS from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He is fluent in Spanish, and is excited to treat all members of the vibrant Washington, DC community.
